The original ones were hand fitted and finished.There's no one left at Colt who can do the work. The new ones have been redesigned for mass production.Are they worth 2K? Dunno.Haven't handled one.I'm damn glad I bought my blued 8 incher when I did,even though I thought 1200 bucks was a bit steep. As for the Python, the CDN price is typical of the Canadian distribution model. Colt likely distributes directly to retailers in the US but we have third party distributors in Canada that have to add their mark up before wholesaling to retailers. I used to run a retail business in another hobby and the wholesale price of products in Canada was the same as the retail price in the US because of the similar distribution model.

I do have to ask as I don't get blueing. It's less effective against rust (my 41 started to get pitted after a year) and it looks like it's prone to wear? Especially on a gun that's cleaned often due to constant use.
There was that Cabot blued gun I saw a pic of, OMG. But that's a rare rare animal.

i think people would like the blued because the original Colt Python blued has to be the nicest deepest blue ever seen on a pistol.short of a high end custom,but for actual use,which is probably was people want a new Python for,that stainless finish is perfect,although for my own,i'd really like the high polished stainless of the last of the old Pythons,since i dont i will ever see a nickle plated Python i can buy and not be affraid to use,
