Hey guys, going to take a look at some hand guns, a few blackhawks, a couple single sixes and a colt python. I think I can do a decent job of finding a price on the others, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be looking for with the python. It's a older model, 70-80s, blued 6". I know I can get the year from the serial number, just wondering if there are any markings I should be looking for, grips etc...or if just really just comes down to year and condition.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to handling my first python, I'm trying to decide if I should keep it for myself or sell it. I'm more a fan of the stainless steel version. We'll see once I get it in person!

This is advice I was given when evaluating one: Check the lock up and timing. #### it slowly and keep your thumb on the hammer then pull the trigger lowering the hammer slowly until it rests. While keeping the trigger depressed try and wobble the cylinder left and right. If its timed correctly there should be no movement of the cylinder left and right. Check this on each cylinder, they all should lock up solid. For timing, as you #### the gun in single action very slowly the locking bolt should engage in the cylinder locking bolt. If the timing is out with the hammer cocked the bolt will hold up in the bolt notch and you will have to manually turn the cylinder slightly to get it to engage in the locking bolt notch.

It does not hurt to move the cylinder front to rear also.

You have a tutorial on You tube in the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"....Tuco will teach you how to do it.
