Colt SA 15.7 owners

[Rule 303]

Hello to all of you who have this great piece of kit.

Have any of you attached the C79 to the 15.7 rail?

Just by looking at the rail in relation to the Troy BUIS, it doesn't look like the scope will fit.

Images of the C79 don't give footprint dimensions, so it's difficult to determine if the fit will work.

Anyone have experience with this set up?

So the Troy BUIS goes on the front of the rail if the C79 is installed?

Doesn't that throw off the sight radius by mounting in front?

Yes, that's what I thought, hence the question.

It looks like all 3 of D 23's rifles are set up that way.

I assume that the buis are used strictly for backup and are probably good for 50 yards to 100 yards

Those are my rifles in that pic,the BUIS are mounted there so they don't get lost or misplaced while stored, They are obviously taken off when scope is used

Unless you have a long eye relief scope, back up sights like the Troy's will probably get in the way if mounted behind the scope. Something like a red dot scope works too with the back up sight behind it.

Why? They should not be visible through the optic. Mine isn't and mine is a 3x not 3.4 like the C79s. I can see a smudge of the front post on my SA20 but not the best BUIS.

Why is the one triad on backwards?

A lot of guys put them on that way. Its easier to mount to and works better. Theres really no wrong way to mount it. Use whatever works. Everyone I was overseas with used it that way, including myself.
