Colt SAA: where can it buy a new one?

Got a hankering for a 7.5 inch barrel Colt SAA, not a clone. Where the hell can I manage to buy one? Do I just put it on order with my local Colt dealer and pray?

Wasn't the original release a 7.5" before they started to shorten the barrel for quick drawing?

Yes, 7.5 for cavalry then they were shortened for artillery and militia (5.5). After a special order for a 4 3/4, the civilian model got popular and it became a standard barrel length.

I only want to make sure that the OP is certain about the barrel length he wishes to buy. It's frustrating to put close to 2k, search 6 months for a handgun only to realize that it's not what you need.

There were Sheriff models made as well - now prohib of course. The 5.5" became more popular with the original Western movies made in the 30's, 40's and early 50's. Anyone remember Hoot Gibson, Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, Lash Larue, Cisco Kid, Pauncho and Roy Rogers.....probably not.
