Looking at a Colt Scout Duo-Tone 22lr. Serial number ends in F and as near as I can figure it was made in '58 or '59. It's in decent shape with a little blueing wear around the end of the barrel and on the leading edge of the cylinder. The bore is noce and clean and the rifleing looks good. Looks like it was carried a lot, but fired a little. Comes with original manual, but no box.

Any ideas on what I should be expecting to pay for this?

In that condition, sans box etc, no more then $300, and that is generous. On the other hand, they're not ever going to make them again. I have one (paid $125 for it a long time ago), they are great guns for kids to learn with (or people with little hands), my daughter still picks it as her favorite, and she's long past child age. - dan

I don't know about the "small hands" thing. The grip is actually larger than my Blackhawk 357. the frame is 7/8 the size of an SAA.

I've seen a couple around now for $600-$800. Keep in mind this is an F model Duo-Tone, made in 1958. Maybe Dan is thinking of a newer one from the 60s with the black frame which go for between $400-$600.

Anyway, I've answered my own question with a little more research and bought it for $395.00. It's a sweet gun and shoots excellent.

How do I post pictures? Do I have to upload them to a web site somewhere else?

I post pictures using photobucket. It is free and painless once you figure out the fundamentals . I also just purchased a Colt New Frontier with two cylinders.

Those seem like US prices to me. I'm familiar with the duo tone Q frame, I have one, as well as two versions of the later Q framed New Frontier. As the Blackhawk frame was originally a copy of the SAA P frame (which the Q frame is, as stated, a 7/8 scale version of), I don't see how it could possibly be bigger then a Blackhawk. Are you thinking of a Bearcat? - dan

Sounds as though a few nice Colt 22's have come out of the woodwork. I picked up something similar but not quite the same league as the Colts. A mint old model Ruger single six with a flat loading gate.

It is a US price... I bought it in Phoenix...
Bearcats are just babies... The Colt's grip is almost the same size as the blackhawk, same height and width, but extends about 1/8" lonnger at the flare on the bottom at the back. The Ruger I'm comparing it to is a 50th aniversary Blackhawk 357, so it has the older stye X3 grips.
I'll get a photo up soon.

Here it is... the only photo I have of it. I'm back in BC now and had to leave all the handguns in AZ and I forgot to take more photos before I left.
