Curious if anyone has come across this model in Canada or has any direct experience. I haven't seen or read much but they look interesting. The price would put it in Les Baer territory.

I've got one just like you have pictured it's in 38 super. I picked this up as well as a custom shop USMC M45. I feel that Colt's custom shop is currently building some of the best 1911's out there even when you compare them to the other semi custom producers. In fact i was so impressed with these 2 that I decided to pick up another SCGM which should be here in a week or two. I just love the classic look of these models, the vertical serrations and no serrations on the front of the slide really do it for me. I'll get some pictures later on.

The combat elite is a a very different gun then the Special Combat Government. It's a production gun that is more comparable to say the STI Trojan or a Springer loaded model in terms of build quality. The Special Combat Government is from Colt's custom shop and would be more comparable to a Baer Thunder Ranch Special in terms of build quality.

good to know, because the combat elite could just about keep up with a stock norinco. Except the combat elite had more sharp edges..i bled every single time i shot that pistol. Never had a pistol i so wanted to like that i was so disappointed by. Avoided colt 1911's ever since

Very nice gun.....only thing that I don't like about it is that the edges are too sharp. I prefer duty/carry guns that have been deburred and corners rounded.
This one is in Hard Chrome....

Those are beauties, gents. Definitely on the wish list.

okcorral1881, did you pick up yours in the US as well? I'm assuming in Canada they could probably be special ordered through any colt dealer, but would probably take awhile as production seems limited (as one would expect with a semi custom)

I can totally relate to this. I bought an STI trojan in 9mm that I was so excited about to use for 3-gun. It was accurate but it wouldn't feed reliably enough to use in competition. I got my hands on some cobra mags that didn't work so I tried different followers without any luck. Then I tried wilson mags and still no luck. It was very frustrating and although I know that STI puts out some great guns that experience really turned me off. I think all the companies can put out some lemons, in fact I handled a $4000 nighthawk T3 and the serrations on the rear of the slide were almost crossing, yet my experience with my Nighthawk FLX in 9mm has been all positive.
