Colt Woodsman value?

My grandfather has recently decided to sell two old .22s that he has had for over 50 years. One is a Colt woodsman .22 pistol, which he says that he purchased new in 1953, and the other is a Remington Model 121 pump-action .22 rifle. I haven't seen either of them, but from what he describles, they are both likely in good to very good condition.

I am interested in buying them from him, but I don't have a clue as to what would be a fair price for each piece. He is my grandfather, so I don't want to take advantage, but I also don't want to pay an exorbitant amount if they're not worth it. Any thoughts as to a decent price for each item? (and they are both registered, so no worries there)

Thanks.

Erik.

ErikT,

We'll need more details to tell you what they're worth... there's a world of difference between a "basic" Woodsman, the "Target" and the "Match" model, with different dollar values for the 1st/2nd/3rd generation.

For what it's worth, I sold a 2nd gen "target" to a friend of mine for a little less $400

As for the 121, it depends a lot on condition... a collector will gladly pay over $600 for a pristine example, while a nice-shooter will sell for $200

If they are in good shape, I think they both are worth while firearms to have!
