Series 70 guns are highly coveted due to a supposedly better trigger pull vs. the Series 80s. ( I can't really tell a difference unless I shoot them side by side)
I agree with the $1200-$1250 price also. People who will buy it will likely, either safe queen the gun or turn it into a race gun.
It was explained to me that the trigger block in the Series 80 is problematic (allegedly) because of the extra parts involved. For that reason people prefer the Series 70.
Correct! Except it's a firing pin block, not a trigger block.
I've shot Series 70s and 80s and I'm not perceptive enough to tell the difference without shooting them side by side.
It's also hard to find 2 totally stock triggers to compare at the same time. Most modern 1911s are based on the Series 80 design and I shoot them ok.
Doesn't help that I think a Glock trigger is just fine!
Is Colt going out of bussiness ?
Likely more in the line of downsizing and re-structuring.
Without a salesman like Obama, it seems civilian sales in the firearms industry is hurting a bit these days.
Doesn't help that they haven't come up with a new idea since the 60s... Even the AR isn't their design!
My mistake: pretty sure that POS Colt All American 2000 was all theirs...
