hi.
could anyone educate me about a colt goldcup comander in 45acp. i have a chance of getting one. how much should be worth? accuracy? history? etc.

tk. regards

A Colt Commander is a shorter version of the Government Model. When the U.S. Army thought they should switch to 9mm in the 50's, Colt came up with the Commander in 9mm. The U.S. held off changing to a 9mm for 20 some years.
The Gold Cup is/was a high priced, target, version of the Government Model with adjustable sights, lighter springs, etc. A Colt Goldcup Commander is a target version of the Commander.
Haven't a clue what they're worth. They're not exactly common. I think I'd be inclined to grab it. It's a short barreled target pistol.

When they were new, they retailed for around $1200. They are a very nice, somewhat limited production model. The one I saw was at Lever in the early nineties - about the same time Smith and Wesson was in it's 'gun of the month' period. The one I looked at was Stainless and fitted with a factory beavertail (rare at the time) it also had adjustable sights and was a series 80. *This gun was fitted with a collet bushing*

thank you for the info. indeed a very nice looking gun. very rare as well. this one is in stainless steel. got it already. waiting for att. :dancingbanana:
