Hey all, I'm in the process of obtaining my PAL and Restricted PAL. Other than just shooting at my own targets with pistols/revolvers I was wondering if there are any Combat Pistol Shooting competitions/organizations available in Ontario.
As well I've been onto the Ontario Chapter of the IPSC group and was curious if there are any other firearms groups one can join to get into competition either for restricted or non-restricted firearms.

Thanks

i don't know if "combat shooting" sport is available in Ontario but there are several other shooting sports...

bullseye
P.P.c.
IPSC
IDPA
Trap shooting
skeet shooting
sporting clays

then there are the paintball weekend warriors
also the nuts who go shoot war scenerios with airsoft guns in a field. pretty fun to watch but i'd hate to get hit by a mini shooting hundred of plastic bb's my way...

I personally like the sports where no one shoots back...

hope you find something you like cause really any sport that goes bang is fun... welcome to the fun side

What's your location?
There is an IPSC match at the RA centre on the 24th and an xDPA match at Smiths Falls Fish And Game Club on Dec 1st.
I'll be at both if you can make it.

I'm in the Sudbury Region, looking for something close to home-but a road trip is fun too. I don't own any firearms yet (still in the process of getting licenced). But if I can get more info on the various competitions and maybe observe them I think that would be interesting.

About 25 years ago we stopped using the phrase "combat pistol." This was also the time that an "Assault Course" became a "field course." There were other changes as well, along the same lines.

I guess the people who wrote the rule books were concerned about being politically correct.

Anyway if you haven't got a HG yet, don't let that stop you. Get to an IPSC match and see what everybody is using...after the match a polite query might get you a couple of magazines worth to try.

Bring some eye & ear protection.
