I am not sure which thread this should be put under but am very interested in combination gun's, have been looking for a cz 12ga over 30-06 or 308 or any thing else that some one may have. I have not found much available in Canada. The cx was model 502 or 508 I think ,any and all information from other would be great Thanks Jim..

Arnie's guns in Prince Albert SK has a CZ O/U in 12 ga / 7x57R Ackley imp. in stock. It used to be my rifle, and was a good shooter. I sold it to them when I moved up to a Merkel. I don't know how much they were selling it for, but it came with 100 rounds & reloading dies for the rifle. You can shoot standard 7x57R in the Ackley chamber if factory ammo availability is any concern. The CZ's are solidly built and a good value in my opinion.

Epp's is listing a used Brno 502.8 Combination, 2.75" 12 ga over .308 for $1029. A Krieghoft, Drilling, 9.3 x 74R with 16 guage barrels at $6499. And a Kettner Drilling, 9X57R- 16X2 3/4 for $21,000.
They have a new Brno 12GA X 3" / 7MM X 65R for $1489.25 too. Brno's are CZ products now.
They don't appear to be selling 502's or 508's any more. No mention of either on CZ's site. Or on CZ-USA's site. Just the Brno M802.

Longwalker I am very interested in the gun you speak of was it a shooter? what is the difference between the 7x57R and the Ackley improved version? and if I may be so bold why did you sell and how much?

I didn't shoot that gun much, but it would hold 2" groups with iron sights, (and with my eyes it would certainly do better with a scope!) but I didn't test it with scope - there was a QD scope mount with it.
Ackley improved chambers are cut so that you can use both factory loads or expanded cases. The advantage of the sharper shoulder is lower pressure or more bullet speed, at the same pressure. If Ackley chambers are not cut correctly they can cause excess headspace with factory loads. But the 7x57R headspaces on the rim, so there is no issue with shooting normal factory loads in any rimmed Ackley chamber, velocity will drop maybe 30FPS and the case will just move out to fit the sharper shoulder. The 7x57R is a very common European chambering, ammo is available from Norma, Sellier&Bellot, RWS, etc.
My Merkel shoots S&B or Hirtenberg 175 gr. factory loads at right around 2400 FPS.

if I may be so bold why did you sell and how much?

I traded it and another rifle on a Nice Sako Classic in .35 Whelen, and I already had bought the Merkel, so I didn't need it any more. I'd guess it is worth about $1100 with the scope mounts, dies & Ammo, but give Phil Cobb a call and he'll have to tell you what $ he would sell for. His number is 306-764-8911.
