Combination gun options?

I had a BRNO 12/7x57R for a while. While it was a bit heavy, it handled very well and was good to carry. It was much like carrying an O/U shotgun.

Those CZ Brno combo guns look nice .... !!

I am hearing they have an 11mm rail ... Has anybody mounted a scope on one of these? Any issues?

From what I am seeing the scope would likely need a cantilever mount.

So, I am wondering if anybody has any experience with this ....?

The 22... 3/8 slot to Weaver base fit on it or direct 3/8 rings will fit. The steel sights on this rig are very good with the luminous insert in the front.

Ok, here an update …

I decided to order a brand new BRNO Combo gun in 12ga/30-06 … and the newer version that was introduced in 2015.

I ordered mine through Prophet River .....

Today was my first day shooting the gun in my “backyard” and sighting it in.

Here my first impressions:
  • fit and finish is nice …. really nice compared to what I am used to.
  • The gun that I got seems to be made in 2015. The sighting in target that came with the gun is dated 2015.
  • The gun is supposed to have a front “Single Set Trigger”… but mine seems to be just a normal single stage trigger. Pushing forward on the trigger will do nothing …. :-( ... The trigger is ok however …
  • The rear shotgun trigger is sluggish … very sluggish …
  • Weight of the gun with the scope is 3.9 kg … or 8.6 pounds. I find it still light enough to carry around for stalking ….

I decided to put a Vortex 1 -4 x 24 scope on the gun. I wanted something with a 1x magnification so that I could hunt grouse and hares … and the 4x magnification will hopefully get me out to 100 to 200 meters.

So, today I sighted in the scope … and I was constantly hitting dime sized targets at 50 meters … with Federal 180 grain 30-06. (50 meters is the max in my backyard)

Once sighted in … I tried the 12ga barrel with Federal #6 shot at 20 meters … and here is the pattern.

I then wanted to test my 32 ACP adapter … but … to my surprise … no bang !!! ??? First I thought it is the adapter … but when I tried a 30-06 round … the hammer did drop … I could hear it and feel it … but no bang … and absolutely no impression on the primer. WTF .... broken firing pin?

I only shot 10 rounds of 30-06 to sight in the gun and a couple more to shoot dimes … and the gun is already broken …. ??? :-(

What can I say? This is my first combination gun … and to be honest, it feels good … fit and finish is good … it looks good … it shoots good …. and it is just what I was looking for. I want to like it .... but a broken firing pin already?

I will be contacting CZ support to get this resolved/repaired … and hopefully … eventually I will then be able try 100 to 200 yards.

Update 2020 ....

so I had the gun repaired by Wolverine Supplies and on warranty. It took them a while to get the parts from CZ ... but after around 8 month the gun is now back home ... And I am now able to set the trigger ... “Single Set Trigger”… and I have to say it is a hair trigger ... wowww ...

And I was able to shoot a 2" group at 100 meters ....

Glad to hear its working. I have a Blaser combo (bockbuschflinte) that is 16ga over 5.6x50R and a Sauer drilling. Both have the front set trigger. Its one of the best things about them.
