combination gun questions

i recently bought a combination gun 12 gauge on top and 222 on bottom and plan on use it for coyote hunting.it has a dovetail on top of reciever that i mounted millet see thru rings and a scope on them.Problem took it to the range to sight in and had the 222 shooting excellent and then shot some shotgun and then went back to shooting the rifle and the 222 was shooting way off. It is new rings and new bushnell trophy 3x9. Everything is tight.What do other people do with these guns to scope or sights. i would like a scope for long shots but be able to shoot a quick moving target with the shotgun.What set up do other people use for this application. The 12 ga may be moving the scope mounts a bit in the dovetail. What kind of iron sights are on it? Maybe some tyoe of peep sight would work better. Williams makes one that fits in the dovetail grooves on 22 rimfires Maybe it would fit on yours.
 
A little blue locktite on your scope ring screws may do wonders but I'd say iceman is right.. it is probably moving a bit in the dovetails.. no real tidy way to correct that comes to mind.
 
Just curious: Does your gun have 11mm or 3/8" dovetail? If your gun has 11mm dovetail, and your Milletts are for 3/8" dovetail, that could account for the movement you describe.

3/8 dove tail and i do have locktight on all screws.Now the rings are millet see thru .22 scope rings as i dont think they make so called (shotgun)or (highpower) see thru rifle ringes that are for 3/8 dovetail.I was thinking of taking gun to gun smith and seeing if they could drill and tap so i could install a weaver or picatiney scope rail?
 
It would be cheaper to check out airgun supply in peterborough. They sell a weaver rail that locks down on the dovetails. I have on on my 22mag and another on my 4570 double. They work awesome and are like $15

Just to let everyone know another fine gunnutz member helped me figure this out. This gun a tikka mo7 has a 11mm dove tail and not a 3/8 dove tail.For those of you that dont know like i didnt you measure dove tail at widest top point of dovetail.Also there is a angle difference between the 2 as well.one is 45 deg and one is 60 deg i believe. I installed a 11mm to weaver mount on this and it now shoots great.Thanks for everyones input

This is also known in the CZ world of rimfires as well.
Sometimes there is an 11mm dovetail and sometimes there is a 3/8ths dovetail.
Glad to hear it has worked out for you.
Now, can we see pics of the gun in action or at least the gun dressed with target if possible.
I think there is a Valmet in the EE right now, but not in my must have list for this fall...yet.
