YUCK! Is that COLD BLUE on the housing??? DOUBLE YUCK. I almost want to cancel my order!

Are the Frontier guns blocked identically?

thats a good question but cant answer yet bcos we need to confirm that bell SKS are being sold first .

People at Simmons confirmed Bell. Those paper tags on the trigger guard are seen on the Type 56 they import as well.

IZH SKS does do it your way but BEll SKS does not ... frontier sells both.

So out of the 360 rifles coming in at Frontier some are IZN and some are Bell? Have you spoke with them or?

nope . i have not spoken to them and i do not know the break down. frontier still have their original ordered from bell and then got some from IZH .

I'd consider this the less desirable method. The closer the blocking cylinder is to the follower arm pivot, the more likely the follower arm can be bent out of shape due to firm shoving of ammo into the mag. If the follower arm gets bent out of shape, the mag won't lock back on the last round. I had this happen with one of my Norinco SKSs back in the day.

If you can get that FORGED tool steel arm to bend on a Russian or Yugo just from using stripper clips and ammo, then you are hercules.

The Chinese SKS rifles seem to have softer steel arms and I agree, they can and do bend readily.

Cold blue and a bloody big weld over the serial number are of NO interest to me. if that is what Frontier sends me, it will get returned. Period.

I saw a big mess of Russian SKS rifles today at the gun show. There had to be 30 of them on two adjacent tables.

Very nice but it appears the bores are not chrome lined... I thought about one...

could a dealer brought some over to the gun show?

whats the price ? are they refurb (black carrier) ?

russian SKS came with non-chrome in 49 to part of 51 , thereafter it was chrome .

thats why they were in great shape , they were refurbished and stored.

this is what the american call them unfired after refurbish .

They were $225 and definitely refurbs. Yes, there was a weld on the bottom of the mags where they were pinned. Yes, black carriers. They were force matched with electropencil on the bottom of the trigger guards, but all the other numbers matched.

It was a dealer that brought them. I certainly though about one but got detoured elsewhere...

for my reaserch. i forgot to ask those of you that bot a SKS from the bell shipment . does it looked fired after it was refurb or stored right after refurb?
