Combo gun are they as great as I imagine?

I have a 16x16 over 9.3x 72R, Drilling.
Just missed some ammo that went cheap on last online auction.
It is nice and light, just cleaning the bores up, as it has sat in closet for about 50 yrs.
I have not really researched it yet .
On rib, E. Minke, Fosen
Flats: FLUSS- Stahl Krupp-Essen
Well post some picture in a few days
It is a hammer gun

Had a Bruno yrs ago , well built, heavy, the line of a fence post.12g/7x57 I think it was.
I have noticed the Stevens o/u are selling quite strong these days.

The rifle I need the least but "visit*" the most is that beautiful Rizzini that Prophet River has, it's 223/12ga with gorgeous wood. Alot of quid for a novelty that I have covered by several fine rifles. Maybe one day. As an aside, I need to be patient and wait for my Brno single to arrive back from Nova Scotia, as it's setting me back more than a few pennies.

Ive been looking at these for a while, due to our long overlaping season (3 Month’s) for upland and deer, they have sum merit, most of the deer and grouse, the last few seasons have been while taking the dog for a walk, on cutlines, or bush fringe,
Just shot a deer with the 20 ga SXS i normally take, but i have taged out two more, with a rifle barrel.

Ive just priced up a Fair combo in 20ga x 7x57R, base model at 2300, top of the line at $3300, spare set of 20 ga u/o barrels $750, prices are less, than what i paid for both my other Fair shotguns, pretty much decided, if i get a few Days Ot, this set i am going to go ahead and order.
Only real choice will be what rifle barrel, already load 7x57r and 7x65, wouldn’t mind giving 6.5x57 a go.

Use my Baikal extensively chambered in 12 gauge ( 2 3/4 to 3") over 308 dual triggers, 24" barrels and irons. Lovely walking combination rifle, and built like a goddamn tank! Locks up nice and tight. Definetly needs to be worked in. Triggers are tank like as well. This is no Merkel, but that doesnt bother me one bit. I'm a big fan of its versatility. 1 3/4 mini birdshot for grouse or rabbits, or 2 3/4 for outside 15m. Doubles up as a fine deer/bear rifle with a safety or follow up rifled slug or 00 up top JIC, along with a solid truck gun or a good starter for and young up and commer in the family. Nothing safer to learn on than single shots!

Single combined safety for both barrels.

Has a certain nostalgic feel to it as well. Highly recommended if you can find one. I picked mine up during a sale for $699 at the old Milarm many moons ago, and seen them as high as $1200. If you find a used one in good working shape, I wouldn't think twice.

Do you have one? I can’t find a non paid or bot written review anywhere.

Lots of small Italian companies making cool “ folding” break actions like that. According to some Italian articles I’ve read it’s so dog handlers can put them in their coat pockets while wrangling dogs

I had one, tried to post a photo but the site kept flipping it. It worked well for as simple as it was.

Is it regulated well enough to swat a grouse at 15 metres? The price is definitely right

20 gauge 308 would get my attention for sure

How’s the extraction on the rimless round?

Kimd of right up there with someone claiming they routinely knock down flying grouse with a single shot 410. I would myself have to see it to believe it. Lol

? How is bench and bag shooting a load that my combo loves in anyway similar to your comment. Just here to sh*t on threads ? I tried for 6 months to get a decent group with 140gr. Waste of time & resources, on a whim I bought a box of 130gr. PPU and they behave like a custom dream . I bought 9 more , it’s all they had .

If it's anything like the Rimfire double badgers, I'd stay far, far away from it if you're looking for a reliable hunting rifle. 3 of the 4 I bought on clearance at CT a few years ago had issues, 2 of which needed warranty work (back when it was Gretch...). They were under 300$ and they are definitely sub-300$ guns.

There's a miroku 12/308 on the EE now. Worth every penny, IMO (I have no affiliation with the seller). I think Reliable brought in a half dozen in the late 80s. Made on a citori action. Very positive ejection.

What issues did you have? I traded for a used but almost new badger 22/410. No issues at all. Fairly close regulated barrels. Not a lot of room for a scope but the fiber optic irons are ok

- Loss of the complete front sight assembly on one after 1 shot (repaired under warranty).

- Failure to break open (allegedly fixed by gretch under warranty) after getting progressively harder to open. They didn't describe the repair

-one developped a chronic double fire condition. You'll have to forgive me if I can't recall if firing the Rimfire sets off both barrels or if it's firing the shotgun, or both. I put it away and gave up as I didn't want to deal with Gretch a 3rd time.

Minor annoyance: the triggers are reversed between the 20ga and 410 models. Why?

I'd take a shot at small game with it if it's what I had on hand. I would not buy a centrefire one for use on large game for any serious hunting use. YMMV.

I really like them for hunting grouse or just throwing in the back of the side by side for trail riding. I have 2 Savage 24s, a .22/410 and a .22/20. I sold my Chiappa Double Badger, it was pretty decent but didn't have the quality of the Savages or the price lol.

Nice. I would consider getting a 22/20 but don’t see many up for sale.

Yeah the 22/20 is more practical than the 22/410 for sure. Prices have gone way up in the last couple years, if you see one grab it up as they sell fast.

I have a 22 mag/20 gouge that is in really good condition other than an inscription on one side of the past owner! I would be willing to sell it….
