so did you need a permit, we have a box stand built but not covered all the way up, put sliding plexie all around and feeder about 35 yards away, deer avoid it like tge plague and moved there trails more in the bush, its been up for 6 years now and very rarely dies a hunter take a deer out of it

I primarily use it for rifle, and we can have anywhere from 30 to 50 deer a day at the bait pile. I bait heavy though, lts lots of alfalfa, barley and softener salt plus a deer candy block and a mineral block. They love that deer candy block....

The pile is 120 yards away in the wide open. This year 3 of the 4 deer were taken with my 6.8 XCR. They all dropped within 20 feet, which amazed the crap out of me, and the camera always showed deer back within 4 or 5 hours.... I'll stick p a couple of the nice buck photos from the pile when I get a chance.

Great blind you have there.
Here are a couple of mine we have on our 1/4. we have a couple of the one man and 1 of the 2-man hunting blinds.and yes the 2 man did get toppled over in a windstorm.I have now anchored it to the ground.I will be putting plexi windows and carpet in this year. The heater buddy's work great to keep off the chill.Last pic is a view from the 2 man.

Very cool. Here's one we put up last year. Pretty comfy, with plans to put a roof on this summer.

Raising it was interesting...

The only time it was sketchy was in a major wind storm. We started to get sea sick so we got out, then trees started falling all around us. It was certainly different!

CreamySmooth,

What a great design, and it is perfect to move onto a lake for the winter! Ice fishing from the lower level, lunch and dinner on second floor, and hunt wolves from the top floor! :D

nice thread.

im planning on building a raised box blind this year to put out back over my alfalfa....had a few cold evenings last season while in my climber.

Ive got a surplus of 8' 2.5" steel pipes im going to use for the base then steel insulated panels for the top....it will be very bottom heavy.

Its nice having building materials constantly falling into your lap....now just to find the time to build the thing.

When the above shack was built I put fence posts off each diagonal corner and wired them to a corner of the stand platform with 1/2 inch hydro wire .A few years later a small tornado went through the property knocking down about 1/3 of the prime timber on my kid's 40 acres of bush(40 acres of bush on a quarter section of farm land). although the wind moved the shack about a foot it didn't knock it over .
I also enclosed the entire stand with fourdrenier wire from the paper mill(pretty much wind and rain proof)...put in a set of stairs from the first floor to the 2nd floor....built a platform on the ground (1st) floor with double doors and a ramp giving access for a 4-wheeler or snow machine .This keeps the machines out of the deer's sight and out of the weather .
The shack is heated with a homemade wood stove .

We have two others heated with wood and two heated with propane .
Although we have seen a lot of deer from this shack I haven't shot many from it ....keep waiting for Mister Big....but it is sure a nice warm place to wait sometimes from can't see to can't see .
