Commander size 1911 in Classic Division

In reading through the rules to the new IPSC Classic Division, I cant find anything that would not allow the use of a commander size 1911. I see no FLDC, and I have wondered about the sig, because it doesn't look like a traditional 1911. I know there is a size limitation, as in has to fit in the box, but I was wondering if there was any reason why I coudlnt shoot a commander size gun. Any thoughts?

Commanders can be shot in Classic, no rule against it, you do give up some sight radius and weight which is nice for recoil dampening.
 
16. Handguns must be based on and visibly resemble the classic 1911-genre design. This means a single-stack, one
piece metal frame, and a dust cover (without an accessory rail) which has a maximum length of 75mm when
measured from the leading edge of the dust cover to the rear of the slide stop pin. Magazine well openings
cannot exceed a maximum outside width of 35mm. Compliance is checked by way of a 35mm wide, and at least
5mm deep, notch carved into the outside of the box, or by use of a ruler or caliper, as approved by the Range
Master.

I don't think the commander is "classic 1911 genre design". I would like to be very certain because I am thinking of purchassing a gun to shoot classic and i would really like to shoot a commander gun. If i can't use it for the classic division, than i would buy a full size. Sorry if i seem like i am beating a dead horse here, but i want to be absolutely clear.

I see no reason why a Commander would not fall into "classic 1911 genre design" its been around for decades and is based directly on the 1911 pattern. The way the rule is written is to prevent Sig 220, S&W 4506, etc from being used in this division, it is strictly for 1911 pattern guns.

thanks for the clarification. i didn't see any reason why they woudlnt be but i wanted to know for sure because i have my eyes on one.
 
I totally forgot about this new division...gonna have to make some purchase decisions soon.
