I have to rant here...
I know that these articles have been posted here already. I am just floored by some one the absolutely idiotic comments on this news story.
There are "people", and I use the term loosely, that are equating a coyote hunting with an increase in criminal activity. I always new that there were real idiots out there but this #### takes the cake.

Seriously, these Birkenstock wearing, latte drinkers have pot smoked themselves retarded.

contest.html#socialcomments

Superidiotic " The Great Coyote contest " was created only for cavemen, who still exust in Canada. We will face now only big bloody mess wth possible increasing of criminal activity.

This is not uncommon. One of the anti's arguments these days is that the desire to inflict pain on defenseless animals is a sign of a serial killer or at least a very violent person.

Therefore - hunting, especially 'sport' hunting, is likely to increase the violent tendencies of the people who want to do it.

The implication is the only reason we hunt is for 'sport' and that sport is to see how much pain we can possibly inflict on an animal. Hunting is all about killing and hurting after all, right? (which is why they don't use that quite so much for food animals, tho it does come up).

It's nonsense of course, if we just wanted to inflict pain on living things there'd be a hell of a lot easier ways to do it :) and if we just wanted to kill we'd all work in abattoirs. But - it's the kind of thing that 'sells' easy to people who don't know anything about hunting. We use the word 'sport' and they twist it to mean something different, and regular people don't know the difference.

I was on (almost hate to admit it)...the CBC (Communist Broadcasting Corp) this morning...and was looking at the posted comments.

Like you said..some of these people must be of a diminished capacity. :onCrack:

If you live in an rural or suburban area, the coyote problem should be a concern to you.

I guess these people feel protected on their paved bike trails, and mowed lawns...think again folks. ;)

I just get shocked at just how far the divide is here.

I love going on the CBC site. It gets my blood pumping like little else on the webernet. But makes me sad at just how far into lunacy we have slipped.
