Commercial 1911 Colt value

Here is a picture of my reblued Colt M1911 of 1919 in the C 111*** range and my original 1914 Commercial Colt in the 13*** range for perspective.

I will take your friend's 1911 off his hands even if it is reblued, I have no scruples against that. :D

Yeah, I see the difference. From what I recall, the 1911 in question was somewhere between those two in regards to blueing. At this point I'm starting to wonder myself, but better pics will help.
So if reblued, what do you guys figure for value?

BTW-Nice sig. line:cool::D

Haha you bet bro. I paid 475$ A few years back for the re-blued 1919 commercial Colt and 1500$ for the 1914 original. Yours is an earlier model and should bring a fair deal more... 700-1000$ ? I'm not really sure.

I talked to my relative on the weekend. Due to the lack of quality pics, he's going to get the condition/originality of the gun confirmed by a 'pro', who will hopefully post here to confirm.
More pics may be forthcoming as different cameras/skills become available.

Also, the magazine in not two-tone (sorry, thought it was) as the serial number range of this gun didn't have two-tone mags. according to

Again, any comments are welcome and I'll post anything I get as I get it.

I regret to say that I agree with those who indicate they feel this pistol has been refinished. :(

To the best of my knowledge, all Colt Government Model pistols (i.e.commercial production) produced at that time in standard blued configuration (as were all of the 5,000 purchased by Canada in 1914) had a highly polished finish and very rich "carbonia bluing" .... neither of which seem evident in the photos of your relative's pistol, unfortunately ....

I am the proud custodian of a very nice pistol from the 1914 Canadian purchase, in excellent original condition. This photo hopefully demonstrates what I am saying about the finish - what appears to be streaking or "mottling" (most noticeable on the slide) is in fact the reflection of tree branches .... the photo having been taken outside on a 'cloudy-bright' late fall day -

Yes a very very nice pistol indeed. Did you say it was sale ?

As I said, I'll pass this info along and see what he wants to do.

Once I find out I'll post here, either for sale or not.

Many thanks for the help, Guys.

It's been confirmed that the gun has been reblued.
My relative is currently deciding if he wants to sell, considering the reduction in value.
Once I find out, I'll post here.

Thanks for all the info Guys, much appreciated.:)

Too bad about the refinish but it still has value. Tell him not to give it away if he sells it.
