Commercial Mauser Parts *now with pics of the turd*

The only other one I've ever seen is a Weatherby Mark V..but I'm sure there are others out there with a modern relase mechanism.

You may find the bottom of the action was altered to accept a detachable magazine and if so, it probably will not feed properly with a "normal" floor plate assembly. You may have to use a detachable magazine. I believe Western Gun Parts have some Parker Hale magazines that will fit your assembly.

I refinished a Parker Hale for a guy and it looked exactly like this one.

With all the custom guns made on the m98 action there has to be a easier and cheaper way to get a hinged floorplate than to buy a $500 sunny hills unit from Brownells.

They do have the P.A.W.S. alunimum trigger guard and floorplate setup for about $100 but something tells me to keep lookin...

Found this piece, but it doesn't list for the 1000 and 1100 seriesl actions just for the 1200. Does anyone know what the difference is between the actions?

Striker, do you remember what model of Parker hale you refinished, mine is registered as a 1000C but there are no markings on it to prove it...

No I don't sorry. It looks identical to yours.
ETA..I just went out to my shop and looked in one of my books of exploded diagrams and..
The stock on the 1000 series doesn't have the caps on the pistol grip or the front of the stock. It's plain.
Interestingly enough..the exploded diagram shows the rifle with a floor plate and internal magazine too. It doesn't describe which model has it though.
ETAII. It looks like the only part that is different is the piece in front of the mag opening. It must have a raised portion with a notch and holes drilled horizontally to allow for a pin.
Like this Win. Model 70.

41.95 is really cheap for a Parker Hale Magazine, most gun shows I see these mags price at over 75.00.
I'd keep it mag fed, less feeding issues that way.

Striker

my stock has a black plastic cap on the pistol grip but nothing on the forend tip,

do you have an exploded diagram of the 1200, if so could you take a look ( at your convenience of course) and see if the actions are different or if its just cosmetic stock differences.

At gunshows, I also typically see those prices. Maybe about $80.00 for the standard calibers and $90.00 for the Magnum magazines.

The exploded diagram includes the 1000, 1100 and the 1200. They only differentiate between the stocks.

Thanks Striker

Took it to a gunsmith today and he say's any m98 parts will work, he had a military trigger guard and floorplate and it fit on with no problems, I'm going to try and get ahold of a commercial mauser hinged floorplate or buy an aftermarket one.

Probably rebarrel it too and make something of it, we'll see.

Your help is appreciated

Thanks

You're more then welcome.

Brambles, a regular 98 floorplate and magzine ass'y will fit because the screw spacing is identical. The problem is that the rails of the action are milled away to accomodate the detachable magazine on the model 1200C. This maycause feeding problems depending on which cartridge you use.

This is what Guntech was referring to, and it can be a real challenge = $$$$. BTDT with a 7X57 rebarrel job.

Be sure to try the feeding before you invest in a rebarrel! If it were my rifle, I would just buy a couple of mags and use it as is.
