What kinds of 7.62x39 soft point commercial ammo are available and what do you like? The only stuff I've seen around is igman. Is there anything else in Canada? Also, unlikely I know, but does anyone know if any stores around ottawa carry any sp x39?

I've used Remington, but I will be reloading for hunting when the time comes.
which will give me access to Speer, and Hornday sp bullets.

When I was reloading for the SKS I was using the Hornady 123 grain JSP bullets. Fed just fine and seemed to shoot well. Then I picked up a couple or three cases of nork non-corrosive when marstar was selling 1200 round crates for 130 bucks and got out of reloading. Now that I am almost out of surplus I will have to start reloading again. I would recommend sticking with 123 grain bullets, the lee enfield .311 174's would be hell on a gas system. Perhaps now they make a .311 150 grain bullet?

Yes they have been making 150 grain .311 for over 30+ years now. :D

Also I have a box or two of that south African stuff with the brass cases, and I'll pull the FMJ off of them, and re cap them with some 123grain speer SP's...Saving the FMJ bullets left over for some Wicked .303 plinker rounds. :D

30+ years eh? Guess I have been looking in the wrong places! I load my 7.62x54R's with 123 grain bullets... thats my varmint load. Mild recoil and high velocity!
