Commercial source For Pure Lead

If you don't mind paying extra CT has cannon ball weights in stock and if you go to a good hardware store the lead seat for a total bowl also has a good amount of lead in it. Your going to pay a bit extra but it's lead. I also got some from divers weights also.

I got mine by talking with a plumber who did municipal work, replacing old lead underground water lines in small town and cities. He had tons of salvaged lead pipes. Perfect pure lead that is easy to melt into ingots, and cast bullets with later.

I was just going to suggest it. Contractors that repair/replace old sewer lines to houses should have lots of it. A bit dirty on the inside but nothing a pressure washer can't fix in your neighbours back yard.

looks like your neighbor is Ned Flanders

Update, Canada Metal responded to my email inquiry. Minimum purchase is $250 before taxes and shipping. There current price for pure lead is $3.00/lbs.

I assume shipping is going to be a lot for about 50-100 lbs
so after taxes and shipping you likely look at $4.50 / lb minimal.

Western Metals in Calgary supplies pure lead wire, AIM out of Quebec is the supplier. Canada Metal supplied me with some alloy instead of pure lead that resulted in a broken die.

Thank you for the suggestions. As I've said I need pure lead and scrape pure lead is thin on the ground locally. As a renovation contractor I've put the word out locally for some years for roofing lead and NONE has ever found its way to me. Lead flashing on houses is a rare thing today with tin, aluminum and copper replacing it. Lead pipes are almost unheard of anymore and being self employed I simply don't have time to spend days scrounging. Canada Metals is perhaps worth a try. There at least in the same province as me, I'll report back.

Thank you

I’ve bought lots from Canada Metals in Calgary and was always good.

I picked up some assayed local lead recently, its out there if your patient. I traded the vendor's premium priced lead for my surplus large rifle primers, worked out great. Its interesting how much lead is demanding. Local scrapers are paying 72+ cents a pound to buy and the local retail for clean lead that may or may not be assayed seems to be around $3-4 a pound. I can easily see prices going up much more in the not to distant future. Talk about turning lead into gold, lol.

That's a little strange, seeing as the spot market for lead hasn't changed much for years. It's been stuck between $0.80 - $1.10, well down from the commodity highs of the 20-teens.

Just want to share that about 10 years ago, I bought a few hundred pounds of pure lead in the form of one inch thick slabs, of varying sizes. 4" x 10" to 6" x 12". plus irregular shapes as well.

He was an X-ray machine technician. He was a black powder shooter, and i just bought his excess stash. If you can search out the x-ray machine suppliers and repair companies in your area, you could have a pure lead mine.
