so im looking at my build again and was wondering.

whats the difference between commercial and milspec extension tubes?

i am going to be using a spikes lower with a Magpul STC stock but the milspec extension tube setup i picked will run me up $117 (LMT tube, Spikes T2, and RRA spring)

but fabsports has an ATI commercial kit (with tube, spring and buffer) for $59?

which is the better way to go? commercial or milspec and what will i get out of useing the milspec?

Commercial is a little bigger, so a mil-spec stock might but probably won't fit. Also, commercial has a slanted end of tube, around 10-15 degrees.

I forget how this part goes, but the generalization is that the threads on mil-spec are stronger.

well my new plan was to possibly use the ATI commercial kit along with the magpul STC commercial

so i would have to order a commercial Lower as well to use the commercial tube?

im still extremely new to the AR seen (this will be my first Ar)

Magpul offers a Comm-spec version of the STC. so the stock should be compatable with the tube, my concern was wether the comm-spec tube will be compatable with the Spikes lower?

Lowers are all threaded the same, so Comm or Mil-Spec buffer tubes will fit all lowers.

The difference comes in the outside diameter of the buffer tube. So a Mil-Spec buffer, requires a Mil-Spec stock and vice versa.
