Looking for comments about these rifles as I came across one for sale and thought it might make a nice addition. More of a want than a need, and have only seen pictures and condition is said to be VG. Comments on quality and a general value range of the firearm would be appreciated.

You are severely lacking in details. Quality depends on who built it. FN sold actions and any gunmaker that wanted them, and they could buy a batch to build into rifles. They range from absolutely pedestrian to cream of the crop, custom creations. If this is one of the myriad of generic rifles, $300-$500 would be reasonable.

An actual FN commercial sporter would be in the 7-800 range, if there are no condition issues. Lots of other manufacturers used FN actions to build their rifles around, so be sure of what you're looking at.

Thanks. There was no other brand in the description and I haven't inspected it in person yet.

I bought commercial FN 98 for 900 last year with a near new custom barrel - mid grade in the glorious 35 whelen. Also had a wildcat stock in 7/10 condition. It was worth it to me #♂️
Had an FN in 270 few years back. Solid gun. Sold it for 700 maybe 1.5 years ago with the period balvar scope and adjustable mount.stoxk was 5/10 and some very minor rust/pitting but bore was A1.

Excellent actions.

I have both an FN built rifle in .270 and a number of Husqvarna rifles in various calibers. The FN's are selling for 7-800 like 9.3mauser says, and the Husqvarna's for 3/4's or half that. For a working rifle I am very pleased with the Husqvarnas as far as fit and finish, reliability and accuracy goes. The Commercial versions come with scope-friendly bolt handles, but most need to drilled and tapped for mounts. FN's usually have walnut stocks and the HVAs are mostly beech. Not fancy but the wood is hard and stable. Being old-school, I prefer both of these rifles over the miriad of plastic stuff now being manufactured.

I'm assuming its a Husqvarna. I've got a couple with the FN actions and they are excellent. They are cheap and plentiful making them possibly the best bang for buck that you can find.

I have both an FN manufactured 98 and a few Husqvarna actions. Both were of high quality. You can't go wrong with either, but traditionalists always prefer the FN.
The wood is the biggest difference, but watch for those previous military actions with thumb cutout and stripper clip notch.

The 98 mauser type action made for Husqvarna by FN are not marked with any identification as to be made by FN. The sporter rifles made by FN are marked as such on the side of the receiver and also has a FN crest on top of the receiver ring.
