Comming soon: Viking MP-446 Semi-Automatic 9x19mm handguns

No, the Makarov with a 105mm barrel would be the best pistol to import from Russia ;)

Placed an order for first quarter of 2011 with barrel length 106mm ;) but it may take longer...those Russians...they are v-e-e-e-e-ry slow. They were to deliver Biathlon rifles to us last July, finally got confirmation rifles will be shipped next Monday...

I think the Makarov must have the widest, least ergonomic and uncomfortable grip I have ever encountered. If you don't have huge hands you may not like the Makarov. It is chambered for such a small round yet the grip is so wide. Slim but extremely wide.

..... I am not sure if it ever cost 485$ from ArmRus, more like 650$, but that was a long time ago....

Yes I remember these selling for exactly $485 and it was not that long ago to warrant a price increase to $795. Thats $310 more and a 64% price increase(!) for a russian made pistol. That even worse then paying $590 for a chinese made Norinco CF98. Not the smartest of purchases. But there are plenty people who make buying decision emotionally and not logially so I can bet these will sell out (eventually :D).

FWIW the ammunition it is designed NOT to fire safely is beyond even the hottest 9mm Para handloads. The only way to blow it up would be to use a load that would KB any other pistol as well.

Valeriy from ArmRus wasn't only one who had Viking for sale and my friend still have a receipt for $485 , but OK - another question - who will to do a warranty service and what kind of warranty your handgun Viking will have ? Parts ? Authorized dealer ? We don't have one in Canada .Baikal company doesn"t care about that .

people would get just because of it's history and wide spread in LE and military in eastern europe and russia. And it is some what popular as a concealed carry gun down in states for it's price, reliability.

I have both the Glock and the Viking. The viking is a beast compared to the glock. I fed the viking all kinds of ammo and asked for seconds. I just want more mags....Vinzer any chance for mags?

Here is some pics that I stole from Sillymike comparing the viking (barrel on left) to the glock

I've had a Viking for a few years now and love it. It'll eat anything and I've never had a jam or FTF. It feels like a big beast and takes a bit of getting used to. But it shoots well and goes bang everytime I pull the tigger. Assembly is a real bugger though and I nearly rip my fingers apart every time put it back together after I clean it.

I will admit that I paid much less than the current advertised price.

Is it me or does that Viking barrel look to be tri-metal? It looks to me like a stainless sleeve with a chromoly insert pressed into the breech (running the whole length?) and finally chrome lined.

Very odd.

Where is the barrel weakened? Just curious.

I also considered these a few years ago when they were $480. This price is too high for what it is IMHO. You can buy a S&W or Glock 9mm for a good bit LESS and have warranty, parts, cheap mags, etc.

I don't think you could "weaken" a barrel in terms of metallurgy in any way that wouldn't make it unsafe with standard ammunition. It could be that the military version, the Yarygin PYa, might have more chamber support at the feed ramp, as this is the weak link of any auto pistol.

The barrel looks to be a multi-piece design, as seen on Mk. III versions of the Browning Hi Power and some cheap 1911 barrels.

Well, you might be correct in case if this handgun was sold by some other dealer... I was working with Valeriy for years and do not remember official price tag of 485$. Sorry.

We will be getting some parts for handguns too. I know that Toronto dealer can not supply parts for some reason :(
