I'm thinking of IMR 4064 or 4895. What do you guys think would work?

I'm pushing 150 gr .30-30, 165 gr .308, and 200 gr 8x57.

Trailboss :)
+1 :p

Personally I'd go with 4895 because for me at least it seems a lot easier to find. IMR4895 and H4895 are fairly close so you could work up loads with both depending on what you can find. Personally I reload 30-30 for my dad, almost all my 308, and all my 8x57 with H4895. I've got 2lbs of Varget sitting unopened I wanted to try for 308 but with how hard it is to find a lot of the time I can't see it becoming my go-to powder until supply is more stable.

none of your choices would be my pick but if going with one powder h4895 would get the nod. i prefer to pick the best powder for each round. i love w748 in 30 30 and rel15 for 308 with varget being a strong second.

LVR is my favorite for .30/30...
CFE-223 is my favorite for .308...
Don't load for 8X57...
Varget also works great for either...

Those two powders are basically the same powder formulation, differing only in kernal size. I prefer 4895 because it meters better than the chunky 4064.

There are many mid speed rifle powers that will work well in those calibers.

IMR4064. If you use a match bullet in the .308(or .30-06), it's more consistently accurate than IMR4895. Gives a bit over 2200 FPS with a max load in .30-30, but is still a 200 grain 8mm powder. Mind you, so is IMR4895. Toss a coin for the .30-30 and 8mm.
