compact .22 pistol

Ok so I don't have a .22 pistol. Had a couple ruger mk1 over the years, one was a target model and the other was the stainless one with the fat barrel. Found both to be too bulky. I want something as small as I can legally get. Because let's face it. It's a 22... I was looking at a S&W 22s that has the 5.5 inch barrel and also the ruger mk1 standard. But what about the hi standard sport king? Any other suggestions? I am looking for the best option. Taking into account reliability, accuracy and size. I will be using it for plinking and if ever allowed here for carrying while tending to traps.

Look for a used Star model F or a Beretta 71.

If you are cool with used, I too really liked the Beretta 71.
It wasn't picky about ammo and the magazines for it were reliable.
I really enjoyed shooting CCI Stinfers through it.

S&W's 422 is quite light. It has a very slim frame and is comfortable for smaller hands - my girls liked to shoot it, when they were kids. I always found it to be accurate and not fussy with ammo. I don't think S&W makes it anymore, so you'll be looking at the used market. You should be able to pick up a very nice one for $300-$400.

I am very ok with used. Especially for something like this. Pretty sure you would have a hard time wearing out a .22 pistol. I will keep my eyes on the ee for a beretta. Thanks!

All we can get here are the longer barreled version but S&J hardware does a nice job of cutting them down to the minimum length.

I've had both the Browning 1911-22 and still have a Beretta 71.

Me, I'd go with the Beretta.

I second the Star model F. I loved the one I used to have. Smallest non-12(6) pistol I can think of and they are pretty cheap.
