compact hunting rifle: Browning Micro Midas VS Ruger hawkeye compact

One of my saved "friends" CPHunter has a Rem 600 in 6.5 Rem mag for sale. Not a caliber for someone who does not reload. Based on my experiences with the big brother 350 Rem mag, it is hard to find components and next to impossible to find loaded ammo.

I think the OP has hit on two of the most common compact rifles and Hoyt adding the Model 7 fills it in pretty well unless you find someones custom rig.

One other point might be to buy a rifle with replacement stocks available. The short barrels will bark and anything much bigger than 308 might actually have a good recoil because of the light weight. A wood stock can be easily cut down to keep LOP correct with aftermarket recoil pads, and having a second stock would allow someone of larger stature to use that rifle.

update: I went with Browning Xblot, micro midas

reason:
1.availability: I can get it in local store and shoulder it, if feels great, while it is hard to get the ruger hawkeye compact, I am afraid I can not return it if it does not fit me well.
2.potential of accuracy: ruger may be accurate , or may be not. it is like a gamble. browning xblot has more potential to be accurate out of box.

1. Sure
2. The Browning is no more accurate out of the box than the Ruger... two of the most accurate unaltered rifles that I have owned were Ruger MKII Compacts in .243 and 7-08.

Have fun shooting.
