I am looking for a rifle to use for varmints and for the kids when they get to hunting age. I currently have a long action tikka hunter.

I am looking at the Weatherby Vanguard YOUTHwhite tail bonz, and the Tikka Compact both in .243

Tikka
Pro's:
Can use wood stock that I already have
have 2 spare long action mags (not the same length exactly but I think I can use as backup for .243 but might not work very good)
familiar in my hands

Con's:
Cost - about $300 more
Long Action size

Weatherby Vanguard
Pro's
Short action
Cheaper - @ $500 shipped

Con's
floor plate mag
0.5lb heavier

Anything else I am missing?

I know that these guns are both accurate and good value. What would you guys do?

I have a vanguard s 1 and a tikka t3. I like them both and they are both moa rifles, but there is no comparision between them the tikka is way nicer to carry and shoot. The tikka also has a nicer finish.
