I'm looking for a rifle that's light, compact, not expensive and in 22WMR.
Tired of shooting 22lr, want to try something new. Since everybody seems to have a 17 HMR nowadays, I'd like a 22WMR.

Can you detail which brand, model and maybe how do you like it (if you posess such "beast") ? Did I mention it must be cheap?

marlin bolt is the way to go i have an older one and just love them . micro groved barrel is very good for tight gruops DUTCH

Moregun supplies is coming out with a Savage based 22WMR with a 13" barrel. Check out his website for further details.

The Savage 13" in 22 Mag haven't been made yet...I think they are slotted in to be produced the end of February. We have them on order and will have them once they are available.

I have a win. 94 in 22wm that I use all the time.I find it is great as a Beaver gun and has taken a coyote or two.
Easy to carry, holds lots of ammo.

This would explain why they were unable to post actual pictures of it. And as far as I know the EE ad mentioned nothing about a pre-order.

From what I'm told they have a few prototypes and they wanted to do some more testing on them before they went into production. As of early Jan they were scheduled to be produced late Feb. I'll know more Tuesday as I'm having a meeting with them Monday regarding some new products.

These Savage 13"ers will make the Northern Ontario Trappers and hunters real happy! I work at a shop and we tryed to get a Norinco in 22mag with short barrel made and found out they are discontinued, I think these Savages will sell out real fast, cheers Dale Z!

Well, I for one, am interested in it. If they become available, and you have the time to make a list, I'd like to be on the first.
Tell me where I transfer the money, and I'll even write a review.

I think the Savage wilol likely be much better quality than a Norinco. Will these be made in Canada? I am thinking that it would fill a nice niche in my gun cabinet. I already have the ammo so why not another rifle in that caliber. Does aqnyone have any information on what the regular rifle in this model is like. Any reviews because I presume the action and trigger will be the same. Will the sights be any different? Will it come with sling swivel studs? One of these in a good synthetic stock with sling swivel studs and good iron sights would be a frantastic survival rifle IMHO.

Apparently my boss told me Savage USA put up a stink about this gun being produced, as it would be a prohibited class firearm in the US( funny!!) so this gun will be never cataloged in the US ever, as they(purchaser) would have to pay the $200 tax everytime they bought one to the US federal goverment!(ONLY MADE IN CANADA FOR CANDIAN DISTRIBUTION) If you want to put in your name for a pre order, send an email to www.gmkarms.ca or 807-346-4088 (tuesday-saturday), good guys to deal with! cheers dale Z in T-Bay

These will be on the website later today for pre-order. They are in the warehouse and should be arriving here around the end of the month. You won't be billed until they arrive here.

Hard to beat the Savage 93 or the Marlin 925M, both around $250. I have the Marlin and it was easy to get the 4.25lb pull to 2 lb. Have a Savage 93 in .17 and it is also a very accurate firearm and the accutrigger is excellent.
The 13" barrel model in this thread is a Stevens so you don't get the accutrigger.

Well, I like the semis in 22lr, but I'd like to avoid them in 22WMR. It gets expensive to the point of choosing to shoot 7.62x39 instead.

I have a Marlin 983T. I have only had rifle about7 months but has worked flawlessly with all the different ammo I've used in it. I wouldn't say it's compact but I haven't really seen any compacts in .22wmr, but that doesn't mean they don't exist just means I haven't seen one.
It is a tube feed bolt action rifle that say it holds 12 rounds but actually is 13 rounds.Accurate out of the box with iron sites but this year will be sighting in scope for it. Love the gun was just under $300 before tax. Now I'm not sure what these rifles will be like now Remington owns them but would probably go to store to look and hold rather than order from what I have been hearing lately.
Hope you find one you enjoy.

Well, I ordered this one from the Chemist, so I hope I made the short list.
Is there any way to verify that?

I can do without the Accutrigger

Thank you for all the advice, and please keep them coming. If 13" prove to not be what I think they should (in terms of performance), I'd like to have other options.
