Companion Dogs

In BC its a no no to hunt Ungulates(maybe spelled wrong) with a dog. My dog hates gun shots and I have never gotten her used to it so she has to stay home anyway. Bird dogs are good to go though, had a GREAT one for years, but that was a while ago

They just have to be leashed in bc when hunting.

That coat would probably be easier to take care of, nice pic. I am familiar with the terrierist demand for exercise, lol. I figure they keep me from getting too fat. - dan

They are much easier to care for - no clipping/stripping required. While I like the beard on terrier, I find the lack of it more practical as there is no spot for water/food/junk to stick.

I was "discussing" coats with a show breeder and she said something to the effect of if my dog "really is an Airedale". I have 3 old books in e-format from the early 1900's on Airedale Terriers. The dogs look like Ruby. I sent copies to her and pointed out the passage that says:

There are certain lines of blood that make for sheep coats. Breeders
have themselves wholly to blame if they breed to those
lines. A smooth coated ##### of modern breeding is the
best asset a fancier can have in his kennel.

Not much comment after that.
