As far as which one is tops, the Browning Model 92 levergun in 44 Mag is. The action is stronger than the Marlin 1894 and the fit and finish is definitely tops. However, you will have to buy it on GunBroker, since they are no longer made. Second from the top would be the more recent Winchester Model 92 manufactured in Japan by Miroku is also very nice, but not quite is nice as the older Browning version (also made by Miroku). This one might be easier to find. I have also owned a Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag and it was a nice fast handling gun as well, but the de-burring was pretty much non-existent, shaving the brass on the cartridge as it was being fed into the tube, and I would have a jam on a fairly regular basis if I didn't work the lever at exactly the right speed. I'm sure that problem could be fixed with a tune-up.
