Mauser aficianados out there, this one is for you.

Aside from the obvious things which I researched like the Stock, Bolt/Reciever and Barrel, does anyone have a more complete list of parts which DO NOT interchange between the two rifles for my general knowledge?

And more specifically I can't find any info reference wether the Forward and Rearward bands which hold the stock and barrel together are interchangeable.

Does anyone have any experience in this subject?

Well, there are a number if things like the firing pin, the entire bottom metal assembly, the receiver, barrel, bolt. Many parts do interchange though like the bolt shroud assembly, cocking piece, safety, extractor (though it will look short), barrel bands, sights, etc. Not to say some parts wouldn't look odd on a K98K like a M48 rear sight.

Are you cross breeding them? :p

No.

My forward band on my M48 has a slight dent in it which causes the spring retainer band to have problems engaging the locking hole sometimes.

Thus far I've found M48 parts harder to find in this country vice Kar98K parts.
