Compensators, bushing vs cone vs hybrid?

I understand there are 3 types of compensator install (+the crazy non-working barrel bushing compensator, nevermind that kind)

I know the cone style ones thread on the barrel and acts like a bull barrel so no need of a bushing.

Now here comes the real question: with the bushing type compensator, after you thread the compensator, there's a notch for the bushing but how is the compensator held in place? Is it tight tight tight tolerances or people use loctite or else?

Then hybrid compensators I have no clue how they are mounted but they are not an option for me anyway, so if you have info= great, if you don't= not too bad.

The compensators available at EGW are .575-40 threaded and are set up for 9mm/38, the websupport told me I could have it opened to .40cal (caliber I intend to compensate), has anyone done that in the past?

When I get my threaded barrel, I will either get the compensator from ARMco, if he replies one day or get one from EGW. The comp is normally loctited to the barrel, and sometimes also held tight with a set screw. Bushing comps are old school, mostly used today by guys looking for lighter guns.

The new norm is to use a coned comp. The cone replaces the bushing. This also requires the installation of a reverse plug to hold the guide rod and spring.

As for opening one up to .40 cal, that's not often done because most people running open guns tend to stick to .355 bullets.

soooooooo, what if I want to stick with bushing type and .40cal (400 CorBon)
have you cheked those available from EGW? I'm leaning towards the basic 4 ports progressive but frankly I don't know if the 3 port with 2 bleeders would be worth it (same price anyway)

What are you trying to do here? Are you looking to keep iron sights, and be able to switch back to .45acp??
