Should be, I've seen several linear-type compensators before.

Legally as long as it doesn't decrease the decibel sound energy at all, it doesn't count as a suppressor, and all a linear compensator does is direct noise downrange.

I've been trying to figure out how those actually work. Seems to me that by directing the gasses forward, wouldn't it increase felt recoil?

yup, not much help for recoil and muzzle climb. I use the Claymores on my Tavors so I can hike around and shoot without hearing protection.

No, it wouldn't increase felt recoil. You are still firing the same cartridge and you are still pushing the same volume of gas out the end of your barrel.

Gas would still push forward slightly on the internal structure of the LeVang, much like it would a regular baffle, but with the reduced surface area the impingement is much less. I could never tell any difference in felt recoil when I used the LeVang. But IMO the beauty of the LeVang is that is may help to stabilize the bullet, which may improve accuracy, and that it forces gasses (and blast) forward, which helps those shooting SBR's. I used a reworked Dlask LeVang on a 10/22 and tests indicated that it had positive effects on accuracy.

I like the LeVang so much that I actually built a barrel tuner around one, which I can't wait to try on an upcoming 10/22 build. I'm not sure how well it will work, but I can't wait to try it.:D
