I bought a Ghost The One holster from the EE for my Shadow 2. Works perfectly with the slide closed, with it open it’s not as tight a fit, perhaps even too sloppy to use this way. Are these types of holsters not designed to be used with opened slides to show chamber empty?

Not such a huge deal if so as I’ll look out fir a cheap kydex for it.

I don't think anyone would/has ever designed a holster to hold a pistol with the slide locked back, although I could be wrong.
For competitive use, only holster a loaded pistol when instructed to do so. Otherwise, only holster with chamber empty, mag removed and hammer forward (slide forward as well).

Some sports - such as GSSF - do require a lock-to-the-rear slide, but they're the exception (rather than the rule).

In my limited experience with GSSF, the slide ends up going forward on it's own, and you end up having to get a GSSF official to accompany you to a safety area so that they can supervise your re-locking your slide to the rear. During that walk to the safety area, in my experience, the GSSF official has suggested that they prefer that competitors use a pistol case (instead of a holster) for this very reason. The long and the short of it is that most holsters are just not designed to carry a pistol with the slide locked to the rear.

In my experience, most shooting sports do not require that a slide be locked to the rear, so, (for most sports) it's a non-issue.

Thanks. My kydex girsan holster allows me to carry the pistol securely with the slide locked back and my range allows you to wander around this way with mag out so that’s why I asked.
