Like many people here my AR has gathered about 3 feet of dust recently, to continue to shoot 3 gun I needed to choose an alternative. I choose the M1 Carbine. It was no problem finding the carbine, the magazines, the red dot scope, a good mount, cast lead or Cam Pro Bullets, brass (Indoor range nearby rents M1 Carbines, read as cheap brass). My problem came as to my belt kit. WW2 & Korean War mag pouches are readily available but they aren't really that good for matches. After about 40-50 separate "google" searches I came upon the Maxpedition Cell Phone Case. It works.

How is the Pickatiny attached to the rifle Laurence. There is a "purpose built" lobber factory mount available that slides into the dovetail of original sight. It is for a regular tube scope but I'm sur it could be adapted to a red dot. It would be a good "no gunsmithing required" option I think.

I have a 3-9 mounted on my carbine with one and it works excellent. Quit a wile since I bought it but I think NORSTAR is the manufacturers name.

Under the foreward part of the rail is two clamps with allen screws that fit around the barrel. I have a couple but the only issue I have is finding aftermarket barrels with the usgi profile.

Nice setup.

Just an FYI to those who that may be intrested In that handguard mount, the stock may have to be inletted.

My M2 potbelly had to be, in order to use the handguard mount.
