I was wondering if I drive to the states and buy some reloading stuff am I good to cross the border or would I need a export permit? I would be looking to buy a good quantity of bullets, brass, powder and maybe primers (if possible).
Ill prob buy some dies and parts for my press.

Any info will be appreciated.

press parts no problem..
Powder not really an issue... (Someone will correct me) I think as in Canada it's controlled differently down there ..

The rest = no way.

In the "no way" category, you're breaking US law if you bring it across without a permit. Guys do it but the saving isn't worth the risk. None of it is an issue with Customs Canada. Odd situation I know, but thats the way it is. You can declare all manner of ammo and components on the Canadian side without a hitch though if the Yanks had caught you leaving with it there'd have been hell to pay.

The process has been posted here a few times,, good luck with the search function looking for it . You might just want to give US customs a call at the Halifax airport.

Permit process is about as fun as any other government permits, except they deal with guns. I would rather watch paint dry or stick bamboo shoots under my fingernails.

I'm from Moncton as well and I went down to Cabela's in Maine on 2 occasions and brought back powder, primers and bullets without a hitch. Was told how this was no problem and Can Customs regulations confirmed this. THEN I looked up the US regulations and basically I was lucky.
If stopped for any reason in the US you could end up in jail and/or be banned from entering the US in the future.

I wouldn't do it again

At $16/lb. for most powders it is very tempting. But without an export permit that the seller in U.S. has to have it is bad news. Import permit from Canadian Govt. can be done online, no prob. for guns or whatever. I have talked to the dealers in the states and they say it is just not worth it for them to get an export permit. Costs just too much money to turn a profit.
