Has anyone tried making a synthetic/composite stock. Is it something an individual can make?

They are easy, I have spent 25 years and I think I have it figured out!
Oh Oh
That doesn't sound promising:eek:
Do you have any suggestions for reading/research on the topic?

Ah Ian, you have won the award for understatement!

Knowing that composite stocks are Ian's livelihood, I will sneak this link past him.

Colin is a great guy with an imaginative turn of mind. He wrote a little book on how he made a synthetic stock for some Mauser-mutt rifle. If you want to avoid repeating all his troubles, you should buy his book. If you want a supreme quality composite stock with outstanding design buy one of Ian's.

We don't do it the way Colin does in his book but for one or two it is the only reference I am aware of that gives the basics and you end up with a stock.

If you want to learn how to make comp stocks politely ask Ian if you can set up a day trip to his shop (You are both in Ontario). then once you find out the dizzying array of things to be done you will gladly plunk down your money for one of his. Arguable the best in the world.
Don’t take my word for it check out the equipment lists for the Palma team, F Class and Bench Rest shooting. His stocks are consistently in the top of each discipline.
