GunPod: The Beretta onboard computer

The Beretta GunPod is a multifunction electronic device, a standard component which is housed in the pistol grip cap of the A400 Xplor Action and allows the user to:

count the total shots (not resettable)
count the partial shots (up to 7 resettable sessions)
measure the external temperature in Centigrade and Fahrenheit (thermometer)
test the ammunition fired

It's interesting; for one, selling the thing the owner cannot falsely claim the amount of shots fired.:p

so it'll be like an odometer on a car telling you the total mileage? sounds interesting. My only problem is where the screen is located

Hey now stop knocking side plates on a boxlock. They at least give extra room for engraving. This thing needs batteries, will certainly break after a good hit and is hideous. So much for monogrammed or engraved grip caps; lets slap the equivalent of a $2 pedometer on there. Sure spoils an otherwise decent looking gun.

With the crappy looking machine engraving on most sideplates many guns that have them would be better off without them. Sideplates also weaken the stock head and make it more difficult to to remove the stock.

Monogrammed grip caps are like white line spacers and relief carving on stocks, an eyesore and blight on shotgunning in general. Should a gentleman feel the need to place a monogram on his gun the only proper way is a stock oval. ;)

Wonder what Beretta will come up next? A GPS in the stock so you don't get lost?
