Concealed carry USA as a Canadian

This may sound like an obvious question but having the carry permit gets you around the laws that say non-resident aliens can't possess weapons or ammo in the states, is this right?

No. It has nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Interesting, before New Hampshire issues to a non resident they want a copy of your valid concealed carry license issued by the state, county or town you reside in. I would think that by submitting a simple Canadian LTATT for transport only, would set you up for charges of fraudulently applying for gov't documentation or at least making the CCW license invalid upon inspection by a police service which could lead to criminal charges if you are carrying a firearm.

Edit: You have to be a legal citizen of the United States to be able to get a concealed carry permit. Sorry.

A perm US resident w/Green Card can no probs. I am licensed in two states (NH res and Utah non-res) with reciprocity in nearly 40 all up.

Be very careful on the states you're passing thru, as some only have reciprocity with res state CCW's, and not non resident.

Before I travel, I do research and carry a copy of a map for reference.

Anti-gun states like NY,MA, CT and NJ normally require your guns to be transported in locked hard cases. I add on cable locks, and tpt all mags separate and ammo separate again.

Once I am in a happy-gun state, I then CCW.

***UPDATE 10/25/16*** Please be advised that due to the New Hampshire Supreme Court opinion Bach v. New Hampshire Department of Safety, ___ N.H. ___ (No. 2014-0721, decided June 2, 2016), Out-of-State Residents applying for a Non-Resident Pistol/Revolver License are NOT required to supply the Resident State License Number on Form DSSP 260 and are NOT required to supply either a copy of a valid concealed carry license issued by the state, county, or town in which they reside OR a letter from their local police department, as described in Saf-C 2102.03(c) and on the reverse of Form DSSP 260.

A wilderness atc should do it?

Canadian citizens are not federally prohibited persons. ATF form 6 for import, New Hampshire permit, good to go for 25 states, + the 12 that don't require one.

I'm done explaining this process, for the NH permit. Spoke with the OIC of the permit unit, we are eligible for it as Canadians.

Paw and I are 'us persons' so we should be fully entitled to our 2a rights and any ccw permit.
If we ever get denied we'll get the nra involved to shake something loose.
