So, for a stand hunter ... presented the opportunity to purchase a deer decoy aka. the confidence deer !!

Thoughts, opinions, practical experiences? Is this worth the $$ or is it a waste of time.

There is a fellow I bought some hunting equipment off of that has one he uses with his muzzleloader and he claims they're worth their weight in gold.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I've never used a 3D decoy, but when I was younger (and poorer) I made a silhouette decoy out of a cardboard box. I had 2 bucks come in to see it. One was a small 1.5 year old, the other was several years old, and had a 130-140" rack. He came in behind me, circled downwind, and then took off!

But he came in! I have never used it very much, but I think I used that decoy maybe 3 or 4 times, and twice I had bucks come in to check it out.

I'm considering buying a 3D decoy. They're a bit of $$$, but it would be interesting to see how well a more realistic design would work.

I'm not sure what this guy is asking for the decoy, but I'd consider buying it.

I watched a hunting show once where they tried to answer this very question. The one and only part that sticks out in my mind was that the host took a mson jar of his OWN urin and dumped it on the decoy. They still had several deer come in and sniff the fanny of the decoy

I tried a Renko one last year. This one is made of the same kind of plastic that they use on "for sale" signs when you sell your house, and has actual photo of a deer screen printed on both sides. I wash it down in scent free soap and there is a spot to stick a 35mm camera container in it to put your favorite deer scent in it. I had a doe come a eat beside it for 10 min before then it went over to it finally and started sniffing it and then started licking its face and back. Was funny to watch.
