Confirming...

Yes, and maybe......

.22cb, .22cblong, .22short, .22long and .22long rifle can all be shot out of a bolt gun. Some can be shot out of a semi, but its not going to cycle....more like a stright-pull rifle at that point.

All will have different trajectories.....so you'd have to change your zero.....or not. Depends what you are shooting and how fare. At short range, all will be "pop can accurate" with the same zero. ie: they'll shoot to different points of impact, but will still be within a 10cm zone.

Experimentation is the key! Try some in your rifle and report back.

OK. that info helps. I'll be shooting a 10/22. and at my buddy's farm, they only shoot .22 short because apparently the .22 LR are too loud for the neighbours. he lives on 40 acres....:mad::rolleyes: Guess I won't be shooting at his place ah well. I'm hopefully ordering my 10/22 from wholesale this weekend. My debate is deciding to go with the standard model, or the deluxe for 100 bucks more. I like the stock on the deluxe much better. I'm gonna be putting a Tasco 6-24x40 scope with light up crosshairs on it just for ####s and giggles. and because I can.

I own a pair of Remington 552 Deluxe Speedmasters - .22's. They are semi auto and digest short, long and long rifle. As far as accuracy at close ranges the three are pretty close but the .22 shorts fall off pretty quick at any distance.
I've owned a couple 10-22's and while functioning was fine they are not for me. If you want the feel of a full size gun and the flexibilty of the different .22 shells in a semi have a look at the 552.

I use Remington SubSonics only because they're closest to home. The price isn't the best but I can get a brick in 5 minutes. They work quite well, well enough that I haven't needed to buy another brand because of their performance. I did have a few FTF (x4)out of my last brick though.

You definitely will not be shooting shorts unless you load one at a time and it will be so akward to load it, it will likely be unsafe handling as you will be twisting and shaking the rifle.

BUT you can buy CB longs, I get mine at Ctire. They will feed from the mag but you will have to work the bolt every time. They are MUCH quieter than a pellet gun. They are the same round as a CB short but are in a longer case to allow them to feed.

Subsonics still go 'bang', like target ammo; nothing magical about them, just a name.

CB caps are about the quiested, but you need a bolt, pump, or lever that can cycle Shorts.

Subsonics are a fair bit quieter than "regular" ammo, and even a bit quieter than shorts (IMO)..

In the 10/22 I've found that the CCI's cycle well. The Remington's aren't bad, but, I've found them less accurate and with more FTF's...
Also the Remington's seem a bit more "dirty"

Thanks for the info guys. The only time I'd be really interested in shooting "quiet" ammo would be at my buddy's place. Otherwise, I'll probably just shoot American Eagle copper plated high velocity hollow point.
