Scope arrived Monday of last week after being in customs only 3 days. No problems on my side.

canadian customs does not care its the us customs/homeland security/state department you need to worry about

best thing guys is dont push the U.S laws when they play they play hard huge fines LONG jail times and or being banned from the us

thier laws are stupid and confusing and one passage seems to override another but it IS the law

I bought a night vision scope on Flea bay, It was DOA sent it back Never got a replacement as the seller was not to ship out side USA. Thought I lost my funds as (FRAUD ALERT) jerks so I called Master Card told my story... funny how fast pay pal got off their ass once master card reversed the charges.. I never use ebay for optics check some of the site banners a few of the gus have great knock offs

shipping scopes

i can understand where a lot of the confusion comes from!!
i personally called customs a few days ago to ask them about "e-bay scopes". after a surprisingly short wait, i was connected to a customs agent.i explained to them that i was considering buying a rifle scope intended for hunting and sporting purposes and wanted to know what kind of import/export permits were required on BOTH sides of the border. after a brief pause she came back and said if i was the winning bidder, i needed to contact the seller and have them put a declaration sticker(available at any us post office)on the package stating "the contents and full price, not including shipping fees, for the purpose of collecting duty and taxes in canada". that's it?? yes, she said, worst case scenario, you have to pay the gst, pst, and 7% duty. she then wished me luck in the auction, and asked if there was anything else she could do for me(insert rude thought here...she sounded pretty cute!!)sorry, couldn't resist!!
i then contacted the "seller" via e-mail, and he confirmed what customs told me (almost word for word), and said he'd never had any problems, he ships 3-5 a week to canada, let him know if i wanted the scope, etc. etc.
then i did a net search on import/export for rifle scopes and found the site i posted earlier, plus a lot of other information regarding brokers and permits.

all i know is that the scope i have now is starting to look pretty good!!!

People have mentioned here that Canada Customs is NOT the problem............It is the U.S. that has put restrictions on firearms parts and Optics. Most everything requires a U.S. Export Permit to be legally shipped out of the U.S.

This INCLUDES firearms optics/scopes. Scopes are controlled by the U.S. Commerce Dept. and they have no export exemptions as far as optics go. Military Optics may also require U.S. State Dept. clearance for export as well................

Most of those sellers on E-Bay are violating U.S. Export laws and will be in a world of trouble if caught.

So in a nut shell, if you are going to buy scopes off of E-bay (or elsewhere) and not have the proper U.S. Permits for the scope to be shipped out of the U.S, DO NOT POST ABOUT IT HERE ON CGN!!!!!!!!!

Now I am going to go through this thread and anyone posting about purchasing a scope from the U.S. without the proper U.S. Paperwork will find themselves getting an infraction, and if warranted , they may be removed from here for violating CGN Board Rules on Import/Exports from the U.S. and other countries.........

This topic has been discussed OVER AND OVER Again, but people don't seem to comprehend....................

SKBY.
