I searched this forum but I'd like to clarify which high capacity 10/22 are legal in Canada.
From what I've read the HC3R 20 round and TI25 mags are legal, but the Ruger BX 25 and Butler Creek mags now have to be pinned to 10?
Have I missed and other 20-25 round mags?
Thanks in advance

I think its all about marketing.

If they say they are for the 22 charger pistol, or whatever its called, they are prohibited devices over 10 rounds. If they ONLY say for the 10/22, then they are good to go at any capacity.

There have been several other posts from people who have heard from the CFC that they consider all 10/22 mags to by "dual purpose" (i.e.: for use in a rifle or pistol) and must be pinned to 10 rounds

.............Here is the bit of news I got that I couldn't believe. ALL RUGER 10/22 AND IT'S VARIANTS PLUS ALL MOSSBERG 715? MAGS HAVE TO BE PINNED TO 10 ROUNDS! This includes BC and any other mag, regardless of capacity, that fits a 10/22 or variant or Mossberg gun. We have to get to work here and raise as big a stink as was raised over the Swiss arms guns. I think this is an even bigger dollar rip than that was. I am going to start a new thread on this right now.
The above quote is from post #43 here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1114591-so-I-can-have-a-nr-22-shorter-than-660mm/page5

Right from the RCMP website:

designed or manufactured for both rimfire calibre rifles and handguns

Magazines designed to contain rimfire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a rifle do not have a regulated capacity.

So like Suther said, it's about marketing. If it's sold as a rifle mag is unlimited. That's why BX25's are prohib / need to be pinned... They are designed / marketed as rifle + pistol mags.

And hence why I wanted concrete proof of what's considered legal.....

OK then I guess I was correct with my original list?

According to the person I talked to at the CFC, (one of the techs, not one of the first people you get hold of) they are considering any mag that will fit a Charger as a pistol mag. Whether this is true ( I don't know why he would lie to me but...) or not I did not think to get it in writing at that time. I have since tried a couple times to get something in writing and all they will say is they are "looking into the whole 10/22 magazine issue" and as such will give me nothing in writing one way or the other.

until I see official updates Im using all mine.
Me too, as long as there is some doubt or confusion I wouldn't expect any trouble.

Do the 110 round drum mags fit in the charger layout?
I can't find it, but there was a thread here a while ago the gist was that there are 2 different models. Appparently the "Canadian" model is OK, the grey market version is questionable.

It was on a prophet river thread.

I will continue to use all my hi-cap mags and I would urge anyone who wants them to buy them. I think this is just the CFC flying a trial balloon but who knows for sure.

H3CR are 25 round mags. The clips load 20 and then you manually load the next 5 rounds. I have 3 HC3R and 2 butler creek mags. As long as they are designed for the rifle only they should be fine to use.
