I did the course + test for my pal and rpal about a month ago, and at the time they told me that I would wait a month, then receive a package in the mail. They also gave me the pal application and told me to send that away with what I got in the mail. Now it's been a month and from what I've gathered, I should only have this waiting time AFTER I send away my application. Have I been duped or is this proper? I have no paperwork to certify that I passed the test, so I'm really hoping I don't have to start making phone calls

I did the course and test which was graded right after taking it. I was given the application and attached a copy of the test and sent it off the next day, about a month later the RCMP phoned me and asked most of the questions on the application over again. A couple of weeks latter my RPAL showed up. I think you should phone whoever gave you the course and find out what is happening, something is not right. You should have a copy of your exam right after taking it............welcome to the site..lots of good stuff here.....:D

Not too long ago someone posted something about a PAL scam going on by unlicenced instructors etc... I would call the CFC and ask about it and find out if they have anything about you on file regarding an application.

Well here's the story: I did the course/test with terranovafirm.com at their Toronto location. It was kind of sketchy because the course took place at some guys house, then we convoy'd for fourty minutes to the tester's house, who was an hour and a half late. The test was conducted in the guy's basement. The testing material seemed to be genuine government documents, and they gave me a PAL application along with an addressed envelope to send it out in. I'm wondering if I didn't just misunderstand and walk out without the proof of the test, but I was still there for a full ten minutes after my test, and he was sending people away once they finished their practical. Does anyone else have experience with this company?

A month to get your test results back is quite long, but it's not alarming yet Maybe you could drop that company a line to ask what's taking so long.

Well I've emailed them and they replied quickly. they told me it takes 4-6 weeks for the cfo to process it, but I think they must have misunderstood, so I'll have to clarify. As for the results, I was told that I passed on the spot, so I'm not certain what they could be doing with it.

i took the course in late july...the 24th iirc. i only recently (last friday) received my stamped results in the mail. from what i've read in ontario the test results have to be sent from the tester to the cfo for approval, thats what you're waiting for now. i believe in most provinces you get your test results at the end of the class. i was kinda confused about it too.

... looking at a calendar, i did my course on the 23/24th of july, the tester said the results would be couriered on the monday (26th) i received my stamped results on august 20th. four weeks overall.

I used Terranova last summer as well. Don't worry about them, the holdup is with the extra set of hands involved. The CFO has to verify the tester is legit and stamp your test first (when they get around to it) then send back to you to post to the CFC with your other info (references etc.) Then the waiting period begins.

I did mine the first week of July and got my card just in time for winter.

Welcome to Ontario.

oh jeeze, this is a HUGE relief, thanks alot. I was freaking out thinking that I had a fast one pulled on me. Though I have to think that this is a VERY innefficient process, if the cfo's going to have that test in his hands again when I send in my application

Its all govy stuff, take the coure, write the tes, wait a mnth, get a piece of paper, mail it in with the other form, and credit card ## wait a month, wait another couple weeks. finally you get it. I too both the non, and restricted a month apart......started in March, got my PAL in like July.

Same thing when you purchase a gun, bring it home from the store, wait 2 weeks for a piece of paper, to move it etc, etc.....

Once that's all done, yyou keep busy making sure nothing expires on you.....

Keeps the Govy types pushing paper.... andthe rest of us paying taxes.

(NO way a criminal would go thru this bother).

just an update, nearly two months and still nothing. does anyone have a number that I can call? itching to get this done before christmas, and I'm starting to get worried that my paperwork fell behind a desk somewhere.
