Hi there I am curious what your opinions would be as far as the conjugal partner thing would go in my situation. I am 20. I live in my mom's house. I do not live with my girlfriend whom I have been dating for just over 3 years. We plan to move in together one day and the whole works but there is no legal, financial, or residential connection between the two of us. I am contemplating using my girlfriend as a reference on my PAL application, is this going to be allowed? I am pretty sure I can assume some of the answers to be "just use someone else just in case". But I want your opinions anyways.

Not living together... then you do not have a conjugal partner.. it's that simple.
Don't get a head of yourself. They will ask her if she wants you to have a gun. Since you are not residing together it is none of her business. You aren't in a conjugal relationship and don't put her name down.
Just don't go there, nothing good can come of it. At your age you might think you've found "the one" but there's every chance that you will part with your current gilrfriend. That's because as you move out into the world away from home, people change. You and/or she will certainly change and might be totally different people in a couple years. Don't jump on that bus until you know where it stops.

To specify there is no way in hell I am putting her down as a conjugal partner this much was clear to me. But as she has known me for longer than the required amount of time to be a reference and we are not about to "break up" during the application process. She is very supportive of my interest in guns so I just wanted to use her as a reference. Once the application is done and I have my license and what not are you saying she will have some sort of sway in the future over getting my license taken away if she is disgruntled as you say?

Use the KISS principle... do not use her if you do not have to. Simpler in the long run is better

Not necessarily.. since at anytime down the road any 'female' with which he has had a ###ual relationship esp can be 'nasty' .. even more so than any false complaints from others. As we all know the gun owned is automatically considered guilty these days regardless of any basis in truth
While it might sound paranoid it's using good sense in the long run I'd say.
She's still your girlfriend. Comes the day you guys break up and shes mad at you for some reason, decides to call and say you're unstable mentally just to get back at you...there goes your license.
You may not consider that risk as realistic because you're in love right now and everything is well...and how could it POSSIBLY go wrong, right?...well i say, if a scenario presents more of a risk than an another, why take it? if you want to go up a mountain and you have 2 ropes, one weaker than the other, why would you take the weaker one?
leave her out of it. Thats what i did. If it doesn't need to enter the relationship and can potentially be a subject of argument or trouble for you, just leave it out. Period. It wont cost you anything and you can still get your license with other references...
That's basically true, except that the GF can still make accusations or trouble later on. It makes no difference whether she has been used as a reference or not.
I would tend to use some of my male friends as references just because they don't tend to suffer the mood swings that can and do alter how a woman reacts at any time. Better not to go there IMO.
Generally speaking - women naturally tend to be more self centred than men. Witness the frequent fallings out that many women have with their "best friends" even though they are all female. Male friends tend to stay friends, even if you lose touch with them you still have the bond when you meet again many years later.
you're right about the girlfriend still being able to make accusations. Except the way i see it, is the less she's involved, the less you risk that it'll pop into her mind as a mean to give you trouble.

Jeez, there are some incipient paranoids on here! On the plus side, if she acts as a reference, you get licenced, and then the unthinkable happens, the fact that she was a reference may give her pause to subsequently turn around and suggest you should not have guns - it kind of would call into question her original supportive responses to the reference check. Just saying.
