Conservation Officers and rifles

Our local game warden is a good guy.At the start of hunting season he'll ask to see my licence and tags.After that he'll only ask to see that my rifle is not loaded.This involves me turning the action so he can see it.Never have to get out of the truck.When he comes around to the camp he'll ussually sit down and have coffee and shoot the bull with us for awhile.He has a huge area to cover and I'm quite impressed at how well he does.I've been in places where I've thought no one but me has stepped foot in 50 years but there will he'll be.

One time I forgot to have my name and address filled out on my licence,he told me he could give me $125 fine,instead he handed me a pen and asked me to fill it out.Good guy
 
If you have done nothing wrong, no worries. Unloaded gun, license, vehicle registered and insured, you are good to go.

Otherwise, perhaps you need a ticket or a warning.

I'm not much for letting a guy search my vehicle but if he does, I could care less.

As for your house, they need a hell of a lot of information and reason to convince a judge to sign a search warrant. If you get your house searched by warrant, chances are you deserve to be searched. Regular folks only have contact with the authorities when they speed or fail to stop properly at a stop sign.

And those officers are trying to keep some order in the land. If they are hard on you and you have done nothing, imagine how hard they go on a guy who did.....

Oh there are CO's and cops out there who have the wrong attitude for sure I agree with you. I've seen a couple things that weren't right. But mostly us hunters are on the up and up, nothing to worry about from the law enforcers.
 
I was using my dune buggy in our pasture to put up some "No Hunting" signs and then I crossed the road into our other pasture and he seen me do this. He then followed me into the second pasture and gave me an unregistered vehicle ticket.

Yup, and he probably drove past the 12yr old, riding his quad without a helmet.
We run buggies as well, and asked a CO if he would turn around and stop us if he saw us on a gravel road. His reply was "Turn around? What makes you think you would get past me in the first place". Funny thing is that there are far more unlicenced quads and such on the same grid roads that DON'T get hastled.
Since that conversation, we've upgraded our engines dramatically. Last time my friend saw the CO, he walked over and fired up his buggy. It came to life like a funny-car. My friend leans over to the CO and says "looks like the choice to stop is mine..." The CO wasn't dazzled.
 
I was stopped yesterday by an S. Ontario CO. He just asked what I was doing, if there were any guns in the vehicle. I said yes and he just wanted me to show him my shotgun was unloaded, afterward he said thanks. Although I was in hurry and it took what felt like 15 minutes.
 
I think the guys that worry about the CO's probably have something to worry about.

As far as some of the comments here go, I note some "biker" type lingo ...........maybe you do have something to worry about then from the law. The Internet. Such a safe hiding place eh? Or is it?

So I guess posting a picture of my bike is out of the question :evil:

I haven't noticed any "biker" lingo myself, must be missing something. I have enjoyed all the stories.

Huge difference between a biker and a guy who rides a bike. I might post a pic of my bike if I ever dare to get it out and ride it on our pot hole riddled streets.....

As far as lingo goes, it wasn't referring directly to this thread. Kinda makes a guy wonder tho.
