Considering a semi

I'm bouncing around the idea of replacing my Benelli Nova with a semi - either Beretta or Benelli.

I hope to use it for hunting geese and ducks this fall and puttering around with my Trius trap shooter.

I think Dante was closing out Beretta xtrema 2s at $1299 but they seem to be gone. Epps has one with out Kick Off for $1399 and with for $1599. Figure a deal on the older model is worth while vs the A400.

Ill be trying them out for fit along with Benelli's as well.

Any suggestions on any ones over the others. How much more do the Benelli's recoil over the Beretta's? Is KO really worth it?

I don't think I'm generally too recoil sensitive. I do have a Limbsaver on my Nova but I've only shot target loads with it and my Beretta SP O/U so I'm expecting goose and duck loads will be felt more.

I had my heart set on a SBE 2 as it fit me really well. Still may get one some day....and a Beretta too. But after a lot of research and shouldering them all with eyes closed many many times in various stores....then more research on the interweb, I ended up buying a 3.5" Maxus in MOSGB, $1554 tax in. Love it so far. Very light recoil as all reviews promised. Has speed load and unload, mag cutoff, cycles 1oz trap loads to 3.5" Rem 1700 fps goose loads, nice and light...weighs about 7lb.....all good.

Try as many as you can and pick the one that fits you best. If your lucky, the gun will pick you. Worst case if your not happy, sell it and get another.
They're all good guns and have their pluses and minuses. Have fun!

KO sucks. Try to find a 391, better gun than the 400 IMO. Beretta blows Benelli away, again IMO.

Ive had an extrema 2 for 3 years and I love it. Great gun.

I picked up a Stoeger M3500 in Max4. Its a descent inertia semi auto, and half the price of the other Beretta/Benelli 's.

I've got the Xtrema 2 with KO. Great gun never any issues. Now that being said I picked up a New Browning A5 3" in February and it's a beauty. Points like a dream, I really like the old humpback design and its light to carry. I would highly recommend either gun, and I would like to shoot the new A5 3.5" to compare it with the Beretta as I kinda like the A5 a little bit more. Seems to fit me a little better.....But any of the guns mentioned so far are great.

Benelli does honour warrantee in Canada. Where did you get this little piece of misinformation from?
Make sure you send your warrantee slip to Stoeger Canada when you purchase the gun, with a copy of your receipt.
I like the fit of the Benelli better then the that of the Beretta, but that is strictly personal.
Recoil absorption of the Benelli comfort tech stock is fantastic.
I find the Benelli with wooden stock too much of a kicker, same for some of the older Beretta recoil operated models with wooden stocks, like the Beretta pintail.
My brother in law outfits for waterfowl in the Brooks area in November, often lots of snow and cold.
His SBE Benellis never fail to work when the chips are down and he uses 4 of them on every trip for clients who do not want to bring their own guns. I have used my Benelli Cordoba 3 inch 12 gauge, for 4 years now using everything from target loads to 3inch magnum loads.
I approach now close to 6000 rounds never a feeding or any other problem. I know,6000 rounds is not much for an autoloader but probably more then many fire in a lifetime.
The Benelli guns need a minimum of maintenance, much less then the gas guns like the Beretta, but still it needs some, best on a regular basis after hunting.
All guns should be regularly cleaned and lightly lubed no matter what their make or model.
Yes, I prefer the Benelli, but do not talk down the fine Beretta auto loaders, take the one that fits you best and you never need to look back on the wisdom of your decision.
I used the 11/87, it pointed nice for me, but kept breaking parts, of course during the hunt when ducks and geese were passing over the decoys. Had no use for something like that.
Above all NEVER use WD40 as a lubricant in any fire arm. It will gum up and be hard to remove later.
