Considering a Tavor, Is it that good?

I would. But I'm an unashamed fanboy of the platform. I'd take a Tavor over a 10.5" AR any day in Canada.

Fanboy ? Who would have guessed Mr. TV/Tavor?

I have a small AR collection that I bring to the US with me when I winter here in Texas. Carbine competitions are a major attraction for me. What if any news have you heard regarding the ATF's position regarding "Canadian" Tavors being temporarily imported under a Form 6? If I had to leave it at home, a Tavor would be much less attractive for me.

I'm not sure how many other Canucks would take this into consideration.

Not no longer restricted from the states.. As of 2013 all paper work complete and tavors will now be allowed south of the line. Before you had a lot of paper work and restriction to process to et it across the line.

Thank you Mr. Feather,

That new might just sell another Tavor. Do you have any references I could follow? Before I lay down $3k I would want to get something from or by the ATF. I doubt that we will see a dramatic change but one of my concerns over the "ban" noise is that they could shut us down from bringing our AR's. I don't know how long it will take to get to a point where we all know what they are going to do.

How far would you have to drive in order to be able to shoot a non restricted rifle? I think this question is pretty relevant.

Right out my back door..... Actually shot a porky out of an apple tree less that 20 yards from my front door last fall. Our hunt camp is a 20 minute drive away and the closest city is only 35 minutes.

I've lived out in the country for 10 years now and wonder why I didn't do it earlier. Couldn't go back to city living for any amount of money.....
BTW, sighted in my new Tavor last week out my back door as well.....

perhaps the wife?

Age 32, 5' tall, 38J hooters, 135 LBS ( 20 LBS of its in her chest ),blonde hair, blue eyes, all her teeth, plenty of mileage left to go, cooks, cleans, shoots, never says no. No aftermarket upgraded upgrades.

Maybe? Worth a shot?

You forgot the part where she lets you "reload" on the kitchen table ;)

Even better. She loves the reloading table I built so much she told me to keep it in the kitchen. ;)

Really this model of women has way to many features to advertise them all. Was relying on the Blonde hair, blue eyes and ginormous boobies as main selling features.

But for now I guess I'll have to keep. :(

Selling off a significant chunk of the safe and avoiding other would-be minor purchases to hopefully make a Tavor happen sooner than later.

The trigger and accuracy are worse than the SL8 by a wide margin.

I own a sl8-4 and must agree with the above. The sl8 has a heavy contour "target" barrel. The Tavor has way better ergonomics (thumb hole stock anyone)
It's just not fair to compare the two because one is equipped as a target rifle the other is still a compact battle rifle.

That being said I love the sl8, but overall the Tavor is the better gun by a very wide margin IMHO. I owned the sl8 for 8 years and have less than 500 rounds through it. I have owned the Tavor for 1 year and have over 2 thousand rounds through it. The Tavor is just plain more fun to shoot:ar15: :dancingbanana::wave::runaway:

I am gathering you would only accept a post of my form pictured on this site. Or of course you can contact them your self.

No offense intended. As you must know, some of the material on the net takes the form of being heard from a guy who heard from a guy. When ever I can, I keep a copy of some official documentation in a binder that I travel with. Even when I talk with someone at these agencies, I ask for a published reference. I must admit to being a touch "anal" when it comes to firearms and associated bureaucracies. That comes from being burned at the border despite a fully authorized 6NIA. I'll follow up.

I'd be interested to hear what muzzle brakes you guys are finding work well on the Tavor. Most seem to be still using the factory type flash hider though.

I'm a big fan of the Ares Armour, lets you tune the compensator for the "up and right" motion of the Tavor's piston system.
